SUMMER NIGHTS MOVIE SERIES

Free movie screenings? Outdoors? We’ve got you covered! Every Thursday evening from July 6th to August 17th, the Šxʷƛ̓ənəq Xwtl’e7énḵ Square (formerly the Vancouver Art Gallery North Plaza) will host the Summer Nights Movie Series, showing a mix of new and classic films on a large inflatable screen with amazing sound. Movie nights begin at 5 p.m. with screenings starting around 9 p.m. This summer’s lineup includes Twilight, Bend It Like Beckham, Legally Blonde, The Lego Movie, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Topgun Maverick, and Everything Everywhere All At Once. BARD ON THE BEACH

If you’re a fan of Shakespeare, you can’t miss Bard on the Beach. This annual festival takes place from June to September and offers Shakespearean plays performed by some of the best actors in the city. The festival takes place at Vanier Park, boasting stunning views of the ocean and mountains. This year’s lineup includes As You Like It, Julius Caesar, Henry V, and Goblin:Macbeth. As You Like It returns to the BMO Mainstage after playing to sold out venues across Western Canada and the USA. It will play in rotation with Shakespeare’s thrilling and tragic political drama, Julius Caesar. On the Howard Family Stage, there are two very different p productions: Henry V, the inspiring and timely history drama, followed by a hilariously interactive take on one of the bard’s most tragic tales with Goblin:Macbeth. THEATRE UNDER THE STARS

Described as “a quintessential Vancouver summer experience”, the Theatre Under the Stars takes place in Stanley Park. This award-winning outdoor theatre company produces popular musicals throughout the summer. With past shows like Mamma Mia! and Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Theatre Under the Stars is the perfect summer activity for families and theatre lovers alike.
